SUSTAINABLE BODIES

Sustainable Bodies is a community dance performance based on water and how it’s getting drained from our world slowly, taking with it the abundance and life it allows us all. And the water that does stay is daily getting more and more contaminated by all residues we discard. Let’s make change!!

My costumes emulated to represent the chaos plastic turns our water into, how it swallows all living beings and throws back into the earth a disfigured, suffering version of what life was.

All materials used for the costumes were donated to the project by recycling institutions of Poblenou, a historically industrial neighbourhood in Barcelona, and conquered by the dancers. The base costumes were all in colour tonalities that should remind the public of the colours of life underwater, from algae to crustaceans, passing by fish and invertebrates.

This Community Dance Project has been created as part of the Global Water Dances 2021.
